Question on Academic Excellence

Michael one of the things I have noticed at conferences is that very few members are applying to any of the AHETEMS scholarships. I suspect its the GPA requirement. If elected, what would be your plan to stimulate academic excellence amongst all chapters?

My Reply:

Javier, my plan to stimulate academic excellence would begin with rewarding and acknowledging the chapters with the most successful and innovative academic programs. I would then ensure that these academic programs are modeled and shared with other chapters across the country using the latest web 2.0 technologies and resources which our organization has already begun to implement. Also, I would encourage chapters to reach students when they are underclassmen because the earlier we can reach and impact a student in their academic career, the more time we will have to ensure they have all the tools to earn an outstanding GPA.
